Road to Doomsday - How to watch MCU post Endgame

I have already written about my disappointment with the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU) in the past. Though certain projects recetly, the latest of which, Spider-man: Brand New Day brought back the excitement. And, this is why I am writing this post.

In this post, I will talk about projects you need to catchup if you want to be ready for Doomsday. By the post title, you know that I am talking to people who have seen all the MCU movies till Endgame. There is stuff outside the MCU as well that you need to catchup on which I will talk about later in this post.

Before I begin, I want to tell you about the other major reason for doing this. Marvel showcased a lot of new stuff at their D23 panel and more importantly, released a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. All the previous trailers were based on nostalgia and chance to see all your previous heroes in one movie. To be honest, that didn’t sound like a good idea because how many people can you put in a movie and give them each something to do? But the new trailer didn’t focus on that. It was from Doom’s POV which we definitely need because you are introducing a Thanos level villain without giving any back-story didn’t seem like a good idea. But with this new trailer, I am willing to look past it.

Endgame - Phase 4

Endgame ended on a beautiful note and it sounded like the perfect closure to the Infinity Saga. And then the Phase 4 began right after. Btw, do note that Spider-man: Far from Home is also part of Phase 3 and you definitely need to check that. Here is the list of movies and TV shows in Phase 4 that you definitely need to check. I am listing them in the release-order and that is the order you should check them out in.

  • WandaVision - probably one of the best TV shows to come from MCU. Don’t miss it.
  • The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - another underrated show that is important for the future.
  • Loki - this is another show that you don’t want to miss. You get to see a new side to Loki here.
  • Black Widow - a movie that should have been done long time back. The reason to watch it is that you will get a new Black Widow for future projects.
  • What If…? - an animated show that is super-fun and introduces a twist with each episode.
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings - introduces a new character and often works as a standalone movie with great story and amazing action. Fun fact, the director of Shang-Chi also directed the latest Spider-man movie so that is another reason to check this.
  • Hawkeye - This is the perfect holiday show with 6 mini-episodes.
  • Spider-man: No Way Home - make sure you have watched the Sam-Raimi Spider-man movies and the Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-man series. Only watch No Way Home after that.
  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - though not a very good movie but still very important in the scheme of things.
  • Ms Marvel - fun little tv series. Must watch.
  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forver - we get introduced to a new Black Panther after Chadwick Boseman and a new villian cum hero. (Marvel needs to stop doing that)

Phase 5

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - this movie might not be necessary for Doomsday but it is still a recommended watch. It is the best Guardians movie.
Loki Season 2 - extremely necessary if you want to know about what happens to Loki.
The Marvels = the post=credit scene might be important for Doomsday.
Deadpool and Wolverine - very obvious.
Agatha All Along - important or not but a must watch.
Captain America: Brave New World - ties up Rhodes story.
Thunderbolts = introduces the New Avengers.

Phase 6

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - introduces Doom.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day - concludes Spider-man’s story.
VisionQuest - ties up the WandaVision, Agatha All Along trilogy.

There are other movies you should have seen apart from MCU like Blade, X-men Series, Toby Maguire, and Andrew Garfiled Spider-man movies. Also, shows like Daredevil and Punisher from Netflix. This is my watchlist to prepare for Doomsday.
